The Rockland County Office of Buildings and Codes is investigating multiple potential State Building and Fire Code violations at an apartment complex in Spring Valley. The county says the building at 101 Kennedy Drive, owned by Country Village Towers Corporation, is facing more than $16,000 in violations after making renovations to five floors without required permits. Problems were recently uncovered during a training drill, when the Spring Valley Fire Department found multiple hose connections in the building’s fire protection system modified and reduced in size, making them incompatible with standard fire hoses. Justin Schwartz of the Spring Valley Fire Department told “The Morning Show” last week it’s lucky a serious tragedy didn’t occur there…
The same complex was hit with a blaze in March 2022. 14 families living on the seventh floor were displaced, several people had to be rescued, including a two year-old. He and three others were taken to area hospitals, but there were no fatalities or serious injuries at that time.
