The nation’s top infectious disease expert joined the governor for his daily coronavirus press conference yesterday. Dr. Anthony Fauci said once 75 to 80 percent of the population gets vaccinated, there would be what he called an “umbrella of protection” over the community, resulting in very low community spread. COVID-19 by the numbers now, here in Rockland, we’ve lost three more to COVID, bringing the total lost since the crisis began to 710. We’ve got 69 in the hospital being examined, another four there have been confirmed with coronavirus, and a total of 1,960 active cases. The state says since the crisis began, we’ve had a total of 22,897 reported cases, 476 more than Monday.
