Thirteen new state COVID testing sites opened yesterday as cases continue to surge here in Rockland and across the state. These sites serve New York City, Long Island, Central New York, North Country, the Finger Lakes, Mohawk Valley and Southern Tier regions, but so far, the governor’s resisted calls by local officials to open Anthony Wayne as a COVID test site. Rockland assemblyman Ken Zebrowski says that push for a local testing site, whether at Anthony Wayne or not, will continue…
Zebrowski says indoor locations are also being considered. Meanwhile, Orangetown supervisor Teresa Kenny says there have been a few cases among staff in the town, but thankfully town business hasn’t been affected…
Kenny says attendance at the town’s re-organizational meeting next month will be curtailed due to COVID issues. The numbers here in Rockland continue to climb. The county’s death count since Monday has jumped six to 1,016 as of yesterday afternoon. The number of active COVID cases is up from 4,875 to 5,850, and the number of hospitalized with confirmed coronavirus cases has risen from 59 to 83.
