Hochul also wants to strengthen the 25 year-old Kendra’s law, which gives New York judges the authority to require people who meet certain criteria to regularly undergo psychiatric treatment. Hochul said a stronger law would help those with serious mental health challenges get long-term treatment instead of cycling in and out of the system or living on the streets.
