A fatal crash in the Hudson River made national news in July of 2013 when Nyack resident Jojo John crashed a 19-foot boat into a construction barge near the Tappan Zee bridge. According to a statement made by the DA at the time, Tom Zugibie, John admitted to being impaired by alcohol and drugs, and had a blood alcohol level over point-one-five. Piermont’s Lindsey Stewart was killed in the accident. She was set to be married two weeks later. Also killed in the accident was Pearl River’s Mark Lennon, who was to have been the best man.
