Tomorrow marks the 40th anniversary of the Brinks Robbery in Nanuet that left two Nyack police officers and a security guard dead. Rockland Sheriff Lou Falco says the event tomorrow in Nyack is likely to bring out a larger crowd than usual…
The parole hearing for 76 year-old David Gilbert, who had his 75-years-to-life sentence commuted by former governor Andrew Cuomo in August, is scheduled to be held this week. Gilbert was part of the “Weather Underground” terrorist group that robbed a Brinks truck at the old Nanuet Mall of $1.6 million. Nyack Police Sergeant Edward O’Grady, officer Waverly “Chipper” Brown, and Brinks guard Peter Paige were all killed in the 1981 incident. Tomorrow’s event is being held at the Nyack Memorial at the Thruway exit ramp off Route 59 at 4pm.
