The Rockland County Warming Center, run by Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland, is up and running through early April as the weather has become cold. Rockland County Executive Ed Day says the Warming Center for homeless single adults at the Yeager Health Center in Pomona is open each night regardless of the temperature and stays open during the day when the temperature, including wind chill, is 32 degrees or below…
There are four pick-up sites for the warming center in Nyack, Haverstraw, Pomona and Spring Valley where transportation to the Center is provided. The Center offers showers and laundry facilities, dinner and breakfast are provided for overnight guests and lunch is served during the day when the center is open. There is security on-site and all state health department COVID-19 safety guidelines are followed. If you are, or you know of, a family that needs help from Rockland’s Emergency Family Shelter call 845-364-2907 or after hours call the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office at 845-638-5400.
