Today marks 41 years since Rockland changed forever. It was October 20th, 1981, when the Brink’s Robbery in Nanuet left two Nyack police officers and a security guard dead. The “Weather Underground” terrorist group grabbed $1.6 million from a Brink’s truck at the old Nanuet Mall. Nyack Police Sergeant Edward O’Grady, officer Waverly “Chipper” Brown, and Brink’s guard Peter Paige were all killed in the incident. Local police, fire, EMS and Rockland residents will gather for a ceremony this afternoon at 4pm at the Brink’s Memorial in Nyack, at the corner of Route 59 and Mountainview Avenue.
