Today is Election Day here in the county, with several local offices on the ballot, including the county executive, and several positions in the various towns. There are also five state initiatives for Rocklanders to decide. They’re on the back of the ballot. The first, would amend the redistricting process, the second would update the New York Bill of Rights to add clean air, clean water, and a healthful environment; the third would eliminate the 10-day advance voter registration requirement, the fourth would allow absentee ballot voting for anyone, even if you’re not planning to be out of town, and the fifth increases the city’s Civil Court’s jurisdiction from civil cases involving $25,000 to $50,000. Locally, in Stony Point, a proposal to decide the future of the town’s golf course and the Letchworth Village property is on the ballot.
