The New York State Senate has passed a local lawmaker’s bill that would make it easier for domestic violence survivors to come forward and file police reports. The bill would allow survivors to report abuse to any law enforcement agency in the state regardless of where it happened. Under current law, victims can only file reports in the jurisdiction where the crime occurred.
