The treasurer of the Village of Spring Valley apparently resigned after allegedly getting into an argument with mayor Alan Simon, who fired the treasurer, though whether he even has the power to do that isn’t entirely clear. A source tells WRCR News that Spring Valley Village Treasurer Gregg Smith stepped down and his resignation takes effect next Friday. Ramapo supervisor Michael Specht told “The Morning Show” yesterday he couldn’t comment on the situation…
Specht says his office hasn’t gotten any calls complaining about the lack of services in the village since last week’s incident. Smith told The Journal News two co-workers suffered from anxiety attacks stemming from the incident with the mayor. He would not comment on it further, and mayor Simon, who’s had a history of highly publicized spats with colleagues and others, didn’t provide comment, either. Simon was removed from his position on the bench in the town of Ramapo Justice Court and Spring Valley’s Justice Court eight years ago by the state court system, and was also disbarred as an attorney for his behavior in 2019.
