The founder of a Haitian social network group in Spring Valley and a prominent figure in the community, has passed away. Dameus Denis founded HACSO, the Haitian American Culture & Social Organization, after emigrating to Spring Valley in the 1960s. The group helped immigrant Haitians adapt to life in the United States. He had worked at the old Ford plant in Mahwah. Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 on Thursday at New Life Assembly of God in Spring Valley with the funeral taking place service Friday at 10:30. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Township of Washington, New Jersey. He was 96.
