A Stony Point man has been arrested and accused of strangling and beating his girlfriend last week. Stony Point Public Information Officer Lieutenant Daniel Schoales says 19 year-old Thomas Peragine is charged with Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, Assault, and Harassment stemming from an incident on Sunday, October 20th. Schoales says Stony Point Police officers conducted a welfare check a few days after the Haverstraw Police Department had reported another earlier incident. Schoales says Peragine got into an argument with his girlfriend, struck her several times with closed fists, and placed his hands around her neck making it difficult for her to breathe, resulting in several visible injuries. Peragine was arraigned in Stony Point Justice Court, sent to the Rockland County Jail on $2,500 bail and he is due back in court November 12th.
