The New York Blood Center has a blood emergency, with just three-day’s supply remaining. The pandemic has kept younger first-time donors away, there have been 3,000 fewer blood drives and 100,000 New Yorkers haven’t returned to donate since before the pandemic. There’s also been a surge in blood usage as hospitals perform surgeries and patients seek medical care that was postponed during the pandemic. Drives are being held in West Haverstraw, Nanuet, Pomona, West Nyack and elsewhere. Find this article on our website to get a detailed list of locations and how to register.
