Two men convicted of killing Pearl River’s Paula Bohevesky almost 40 years ago are coming up for parole again and her family and supporters are gearing up one more time to go through the ordeal. Arkansas drifter Robert McCain and Pearl River resident Richard LaBarbera beat, stabbed and sexually assaulted the 16 year-old who was on her way home from her after-school job at the Pearl River Library, leaving her to die back in October 1980. They’ve been eligible for parole every two years since 2005. Orangetown Supervisor Chris Day says he and others are concerned this could be the year Paula’s killers go free…
Paula’s 87 year-old mother still lives in Pearl River. There is an online petition you can sign to help convince the powers-that-be to keep her killers behind bars. There is also more information on their Facebook page.
