Two were killed after a wrong-way crash on Route 17 in Chester early Wednesday morning. State Police in Monroe say 25 year-old Sydnie Haines of Blackwood, New Jersey, was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes around 1:47am when she collided head-on with a minivan driven by 54 year-old Mordichy Zafir of Kiamesha Lake. Haines and Zafir were both killed, while a 17-year-old passenger in the minivan, also from Kiamesha Lake, was seriously injured. He was taken to Garnet Medical Center in Middletown for treatment. The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact the State Police Monroe Bureau of Criminal Investigation at 845-344-5300.
