The old Tappan Zee Bridge has gotten an 11th-hour reprieve. Tappan Zee Constructors postponed Saturday’s controlled demolition of what remains of the bridge’s east anchor span due to inclement weather. A temporary stop of traffic between exits 11 (Route 9W in Nyack) and 9 (Route 9 Tarrytown) on the Thruway, and a shutdown of the Hudson River’s main navigation channel, had also been set to happen tomorrow morning during the takedown of the bridge but that’s been scrapped as well. The project has not yet been rescheduled.
