A supermarket scheduled to close in the Town of Haverstraw has a final closing date. Over the summer, Stop & Shop’s parent company announced they’d be closing several under-performing stores in the chain, among them the Samsondale Plaza location in the village of West Haverstraw. A sign posted in the store said they’d be shutting Thursday, October 31st at 3pm. Haverstraw supervisor Howard Phillips is hopeful something will replace it soon…
Stop & Shop’s parent company announced in July the West Haverstraw location was among 32 supermarkets in the Northeast to be shutting down. The company operates other locations in New City, Nanuet, and Orangeburg. Those will remain open.
