Frontier Airlines made a second bid last week to purchase Spirit Airlines, which sought bankruptcy protection late last year. That’s according to the Associated Press. Frontier was outbid by JetBlue in 2022 in its first pursuit of Spirit, but the Justice Department sued to block the deal on concerns prices for Spirit customers would go up. JetBlue and Spirit eventually dropped their merger bid, and Spirit then filed for bankruptcy in November. The merger would make the combined company the fifth largest in the nation, behind the “Big Four” of American, Delta, Southwest, and United.
