Singers and Songwriters in Rockland County have been looking for a place to share their craft with an audience locally. In the past they say they’ve had to go out of county or even out of state to reach an audience. Songwriters have especially had a hard time being able to represent their own original pieces. In Pearl River a new local songwriters round has been formed to showcase our hometown singers and songwriters aptly named, “Sounds in the Round.” With the hope being that by allowing locals to hear their work they can not only gauge audience reaction to their work but also strengthen the creative community. Some local favorites will be attending the inaugural event such as Alice Leon of the Al’s, Allison Cipris of County Fresh, and Rory and Dave of Franklin Turnpike. The event will take place on May 16th from 7-9pm at Gentle Giant Brewing Company in Pearl River.
Opening day of the NY Boulders new season will be on Thursday May 12th at 7pm with the Boulders set to take on the Sussex County Miners. Though we recommend not waiting, and showing up to the Boulders’ stadium tonight for a free event to show support for our firefighters. The event will be at the newly-named Clover Stadium and, as mentioned, entrance is completely free. All you have to do is show up and find a seat. The game will be between the NY Boulders baseball team and the Fire Department of New York. Gates will open at 7:00pm and the game is planned to start at 7:30.
